Start with who you already know
The first twenty members almost always come from your own circle, not from strangers. Don't skip this — a hub that already has a few real locals in it is far easier to grow than an empty one.
Your first outreach list
- Neighbours, friends, and family who live locally.
- People from local groups you're already part of — sports clubs, churches, school gates, the pub quiz.
- Anyone who's grumbled to you about the state of the area. They're your most likely joiners.
A direct, personal message beats any broadcast. "Started a local hub for our area — would love you in it, here's the link" converts far better than a public post that anyone can scroll past.
